PHILOSOPHY

We Believe In…

MORE Curiosity.  People who know best what a community needs are those who live there. Our approach is evocative, designed to uncover essential qualities and inherent needs. Our initial acts are to listen, observe, explore.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Community. People are at their best when they are connected. We develop meaningful ways to engage the community in the projects and processes that impact them, and to create conversations that reveal authentic desires and revolutionary ideas.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Art and Poetry. Art is not the end; it’s a process, a methodology, an integral way of thinking and sparking conversation. We bring to each project practices that are personal, reflective, evocative, and generative. We believe in metaphor and the epic.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Creative & Imaginative Communication and Process. Articulating fundamental beliefs, values and ideas is an essential step toward achieving equity and true understanding. Reflecting and focusing on process are key to generating meaningful outcomes.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Open Engagement through Visualization of Intangibility.  There is so uncovered treasure in every community. We create opportunities for engagement and connectedness in order to deepen the sense of ownership.  Being able to identify and acknowledge one’s hidden ability and talent leads to more opportunities for them. Towards the regeneration of civic value and the rediscovery of the power of our imaginations, we design and lead community and public participation processes that are based on influence as a fundamental element of empowerment.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Socially Responsible Innovation.  New technologies, systems and approaches are powerful tools. We work with communities to create or adapt social systems to support new ideas, meanings, relationships, and inter-dependencies. We put community needs first.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Cultural Resonance.  It is the experience of connection, often perceived as a reminiscence, sentimentality, or comfort, that we feel when encountering an artifact, tradition or practice of our common culture or cultural heritage.  The experience of cultural resonance is not confined to encounters with history or heritage, but occurs when we experience even ordinary objects with which we have associations, like “hello my name is” tags are to conference-goers and “the wave” is to baseball fans.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Leadership.  We identify and support unique and overlooked leadership potential in communities by designing innovative community organizing campaigns, facilitating community dialogue and conversation, and linking those who rise to the challenge with the tools they need.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Capacity, Diversity and Dimensionality.  Good enough is never enough when communities are faced with complex challenges. We help communities see community assets and understand the authentic capacity and ability they have within themselves.
……………………………………………………..

MORE Humor.  Humorous situations are often the best conduit to serious solutions. Absurdity cannot be overrated for its potential to disarm people’s defenses and open the door for dialogue.
