NAIL SALON EXCHANGE PROJECT

There is a common thread between gardening and getting nails done—hands to be nurtured.  As the numbers of nail salons have increased in the South End for social and economical reasons, we collaborated with one of the nail salons in the neighborhood by creating a salon in the BCA gallery to provide a service to the gardeners and gallery visitors in exchange for their stories, which were broadcasted through the AM radio micro-transmitter to the neighboring area. Portable radio was available to use it at the BCA Plaza Garden during the hours.  While promoting the small local business, this allowed us to capture conversations and dialogues that permeate the neighborhood.
