The WEEDING ROOM

A weed can be defined as “anything you do not want.” The Weeding Room was an interactive installation consisting of six separate garden plots. Six different kinds of sound (street noise, kids’ music, sex, and other sounds from the neighborhood) were played into each plot to compare the influence on the growth, while audiences were asked to weed and/or bring their own weed to plant in these plots. Through weed identifying and weeding, this project examined the organic matter of the gardens and the history of the South End.

FYI:The plot with sound of sex grew the most.
